HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Happy Earth Day everyone! I never really thought much about preserving our planet, and saving energy ect, but once I had a baby it really made me think of how we are treating our planet, and what foods we are putting in our body, and how much energy we use. In our house, we changed all our light bulbs to those energy effective light bulbs, we don't wash all our clothes it super hot water, I don't take plastic water bottles to the gym I use a reusable water bottle. Jonny does the same with is water for work.
I don't use those reusable grocery bags, because I use my plastic bags to clean dog poop and use for dirty diapers ha. So I feel like they get used again. I am not sure of the "Green" thing to do for those situations. But I know a lot of people that use those reusable bags and love them, and they say they fit so much more in one bag. I try to buy things organic for my son as much as possible, so that he is getting less junk into his body. I just wish they didn't make organic more expensive.

What are some things you do to save our planet? Let us know. Also, watch Oprah today for great Earth Friendly ideas you can do! I remember last year she was the one who told me about the lightbulbs. I am sure she will have new ideas this year.

The NFL is one of the first to "Go Green." The NFL has been doing environmental friendly things for over 15 years" says Jack Groh the NFL Environmental Program. Some things the NFL works in doing in helping the environment.

1. They Recycle all that can be recycled at all NFL stadiums, events, and the NFL Football Experience Theme Park.
2. All extra food used from Super Bowl Events, is collected from Waste Not an organization that then distributes food to shelters, soup kitchens, and other organizations that help provide food to those who don't have any.
3. Any decorative materials used at NFL events, and the SuperBowl are donated to non profit organizations.
4. Renewable Energy is used at the site of the SuperBowls, and most NFL stadiums. This does cost the NFL more, but is worth it. Energy sources include wind, solar, geothermal and landfill gas.
5. The NFL also works in a greening program where they plant over 7,000 trees each year.

These are just some of the things the NFL is doing to give back to our planet.

The NFL started this trend 15 years ago  in hoping the NBA, MLB, and NHL will follow. They did not all leagues recycle at their stadiums, and use renewable energy at arenas, and stadiums.
